While no formal announcement has been made, rumor has it that Akın Akınözü has been slotted to star in Star TV’s new series Halef which focuses on the Karsli family who run the Esenler Bus Terminal. The series will be directed by Sinan Öztürk who directed Cukur and will also star Ercan Kesal (also of Cukur) who will play the father of four. Negotiations are ongoing for the female lead of the series.
Akınözü also attended the Hollywood Turkish Film and Drama Days held in Los Angeles November 16-17. While there, the famous actor commented “I think Anatolian lands are very suitable for drama. We have very strong stories.”
Halef will be filmed in partnership with Cukur ’s producer Yamaç Okur and the head of OGM Pictures Onur Güvenatam.
